Feeling: Happy
Today is February 7th, 2023 (Tuesday), which just so happens to be my exam day for my marketing class (oh how exciting). I managed to get up at 7 am and made my eggs and coffee like a good boy. I was thinking a lot when I went to sleep again though. I had thought in the shower that I have lost touch with who I am and see myself as an identity-less person. I was thinking it would be a good idea to once a month, look through my camera roll and past blog posts to see how far I’ve come and to measure progress. This is more of a personal issue and I’m sure others don’t experience this but I rarely look at things from the past. Even now, when I start to make a music track in FL, every time I open FL I make a new project and go from there. I rarely ever open an existing file. The result is thousands of files with a simple chord progression and drums.
As far as my online career, I was thinking about how I present myself. I would say I’m a good guy/person. However, it would be a good marketing tactic to take a polarizing opinion on something so I’m more memorable. I’m not sure if I would want to go to the extent of Andrew Tate but there is a reason he is a household name (obviously for bad reasons). But I think my content would get many more views if I said things like “If you can’t do this then you’re not trying hard enough”. I’m afraid going in this direction doesn’t represent who I am as a genuine person so I’m very much on the edge about it. Additionally, being controversial might be a fast way to grow, but it’s hard to get sponsorships, where most online creator revenue comes from.
I’m honestly kind of surprised every day, consistently, 5 unique visitors come to my site. I’m not 100% sure what is directing traffic to the site since I haven’t posted about it in a while. Nevertheless, it’s exciting! You guys are awesome and I hope you gain some value from the site. Yesterday after I finished my blog post, I managed to get my amazon affiliate links onto the site under My Equipment so now I have at least one way of potential revenue. Before, I was just writing content to write content. While I thoroughly enjoy doing this every day, I do need it to someday pay my bills so if I can set up these core structures now, it will make expansion in the future much easier. Plus, now I know how to do it for future reference. One thing I couldn’t figure out is how to make an aStore with amazon. I’m starting to think they removed that feature to have all of your affiliate links in one amazon link so I opted to make it an entire page hosted on my site. If you guys do end up purchasing any of those items with my link, I will receive a small commission. With that in mind, I do research everything I possibly can when purchasing equipment to make sure I’m getting the best my money can buy. I bought the Sony a6400 for various reasons. It has unlimited recording time without the over-heating problem the Sony a6500 has and because it’s a mirrorless camera, it does well in low light. Every last one of my products was purchased with thorough research so you know if you buy what I have, you’re getting great stuff. As for my microphones, I would recommend the Sure SM58 for any starting YouTubers. It’s $100 and you look like an established person with a handheld microphone. The Sure SM7B is for podcasters and streamers and is expensive. Then the Neumann TLM 103 is not consumer grade. It’s meant for recording studios. But even then, I bought the $1100 microphone because it sounds the same if not better than its $16,000 or $48,000 counterparts. When you get a mic that expensive, the increase in money spent provides a minuscule increase in recording quality. I convinced myself to buy the mic because it’ll be the last condenser microphone I’ll ever need. Plus they hold their value.
Unfortunately, I must study marketing. Have an awesome day and I’ll keep you updated on the whole Andrew Tate impersonation thing. I think if I remain my current self, give out great tips, but also add more personality to my talks/seem very confident, it’d be a good way to gain a following.
